HOW DOES IT WORK?
Life force flows within our physical bodies through pathways called chakras, meridians, and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura. Our Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When the flow of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body.
Our life force is responsive to our thoughts and feelings. It becomes disrupted when we accept, either consciously or unconsciously, negative thoughts or feelings about ourselves. These negative thoughts and feelings attach themselves to the energy field and cause a disruption in the flow of life force. This diminishes the vital function of the organs and cells of the physical body.
Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
A session is between 45 to 90 minutes long. A discussion will usually take place during an initial session with me. I will explain the session and give you an opportunity to discuss any particular problems or issues you might be experiencing and ask what you are hoping to achieve from your session. For the actual session, you will rest comfortably on a massage table on your back with your shoes removed and your eyes closed while relaxing music fills the room. Unlike massage therapy, no articles of clothing are removed and you are always fully clothed; loose, comfortable clothing is suggested. A session can either be hands-on, I will apply a light touch during the session, or hands-off where I will hold my hands slightly above your body. If you prefer not to be touched you can indicate this to me before we begin.
The session will then proceed with my moving through specific Gendai Reiki hand positions beginning at your head and ending at your feet or back. I might spend more time on one area then another if I sense any blockage or “byosen”. As a recipient of Reiki, you might feel a warming sensation or a tingling during the session or nothing at all, but sheer relaxation. The session should be very pleasant, relaxing and invigorating. At the end of your session, you might prefer to remain in repose for few minutes on the table in order to fully ground yourself. At this point, I will often discuss any messages I might have for you regarding any energy blockages I picked up. I will also offer tips and techniques to help you maintain your energy well-balanced and how to strengthen any weak chakras I may have picked up on.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE A REIKI SESSION?
Honestly, every day if possible! I perform Reiki on myself every morning as it is truly the best form of self-care possible to me. However, I understand not everyone has the time, means or desire to become a Reiki Practitioner or see one every day. Therefore, I usually recommend to visit as often as possible, but once or twice is month to balance your chakras, check in with your energy and have a moment of complete disconnect from the stresses of everyday life is extremely beneficial and again an amazing act of self-care.
CAN MY CHILD BENEFIT FROM REIKI?
